LIFE Nirvana presents its second promotional video, in which its partners explain in detail how this innovative technology for the denitrification of groundwater is developed in the Vega del Segura aquifer in Murcia.
Capable of reducing the concentration of nitrates in situ and in a sustainable way, the solution proposed by LIFE Nirvana requires less energy, emits less CO2 into the atmosphere, has a lower cost and doesn’t generate waste. In this video, you will be able to learn more about this technology, which consists of injecting zero-valent iron nanoparticles into aquifers contaminated with nitrates. These particles can enhance the transformation of nitrate into nitrogen gas (N2), as well as convert organochlorine pesticides into biodegradable compounds.
The project, led by Cetaqua Andalucía with the participation of Aguas de Murcia (EMUASA) and Aquatec, is co-funded by the LIFE programme of the European Commission.
